Spark! Pro series – 12th August 2022 Spiceworks Originals.I've been told we could almost use it as a standalone for most operations. As a fellow 'construction worker', BlueBeam really IS a platform.

Of course, most of them don't like to be 'confused by too many steps', so I hear the complaints about slower opening times as well.

If they need to edit, they fire up the full version of Acrobat or BlueBeam Revu. One workaround I've tried to get my people to use is to default to Reader or something as the default PDF viewer. Then open the same file in Adobe Reader DC or Acrobat DC and it just opens. HW acceleration in PDFs doesn't seem like a big deal until you open a PDF drawing generated out of Revit or Autocad, when you open it in BlueBEeam you get to watch a redraw, or tweak the settings so you can watch a white screen until all the objects load. Sadly we are in the construction industry so I get to support it. The reason the price has gone up is because they've decided BlueBeam is a platform now, not just a PDF manipulation tool. The drawback to BlueBeam is it does not utilize hardware acceleration and it's really tailored to the Construction industry. Foxit seems to work well, but one of my employees found some glitch with printing that he just couldn't abide. I was buying Nuance PDF Professional when they were on sale at $100ea., but that had a few kinks to it as well. PDFElement would be the cheapest, but also the most limiting. They are now MORE expensive than Acrobat.įor every other alternative we've tried, there's always been a trade-off in features or functionality, somewhere. It's like they don't know what a gem of a product they have! Only. It is AMAZING! Way better than Acrobat, once you get over the blue/black colour scheme.
